and training application
8 Wonderful Weeks:

Margot Broom, Tobie Schuerfeld and BRYC’s celebrated teachers will be your guide for this inspiring and educational experience that is the Living Yoga Teacher Training. Asana, alignment, creative sequencing, philosophy and anatomy are just a few of the topics that will be presented throughout the training. Our physical practice is designed to utilize the movement as medicine and unlock the spiritual potential of asana, uncovering our boundless creative potential.
Through self-inquiry, group discussion and study of the chakra system along with explorations into empowering texts such as the Yoga Sutras, The Bhavagad Gita and The Four Agreements, we uncover and experience the meaning of yoga and how this rich ancient philosophy is still very much alive in our daily lives.

PRESENTED & TAUGHT BY

MARGOT BROOM ERYT 500
The founder and director of Breathing Room, Margot began her life long love affair with yoga when she was just 13 years old and made it a conscious effort to always have yoga in her life. Margot has degrees in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management from Quinnipiac University and has achieved many yoga certifications; the most recent is her 500-hour certificate from Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in NYC. Margot has successfully owned and operated Breathing Room since 2009 and now wants to pass those skills on to others.

In this course, Margot will teach the Chakra System, Sequencing, the Business and Ethics of Yoga, Teaching Methodology, Ritual, Ayurveda and much more. Margot will be assisting Tobie in the teaching of Asana, Alignment and Principles of Demonstration. Margot will mentor a group of students throughout the training.

"I teach directly from my own mat. Whatever you are working on or undergoing in your own life and practice can flow through you and into the classes you teach. I truly believe that Yoga is an extension or even a metaphor for how we live our lives, and that every challenge we encounter, whether on or off the mat, is meant to help us learn a deeper lesson of how we live, communicate and treat ourselves," says Margot.

TOBIE SCHUERFELD ERYT 200, LMT, MASTERS IN CLINICAL NUTRITION
Being a massage therapist for the last 10 years and receiving her masters in clinical nutrition four years ago, Tobie has a well rounded understanding of the body. Tobie completed her 200-hour certification in an Iyengar-influenced style of yoga and has learned from teachers such as Rodney Yee, Seane Corn, Rolf Gates, Baron Baptiste and Stephen Cope. Tobie teaches a vinyasa style of yoga and believes that form and alignment are the keys to freedom in the body and freedom in the breath. She will teach you how to make your classes challenging and fun while giving the students an awareness that they are ultimately their own teacher and can guide their practice to fit their needs.

Tobie will primarily teach Asana, Principles of Demonstration,  Observation and Assisting. She will assist with Teaching Modalities, and much more. Tobie will act as mentor to a group of students throughout the training.

KHUSHI MALHORTA, MPH, MSW, CYT-200
Khushi is initiated in the lineage of the Himalayan Sages and has lived and studied with master teachers Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Sandy Anderson, Rolf Sovik, and Shari Friedrichsen of the Himalayan Institute, where she received her 200-hour training and is currently undergoing her 500-hour training. She has also studied with senior teachers in the Sivananda and Iyengar traditions. Through her training in Tantra, Ayurveda, Meditation, Hatha Yoga, and Clinical Trauma Therapy, Khushi seeks to spread and preserve the authentic and pure teachings of yoga. Through her nonprofit, Finding Freedom Within, she helps disadvantaged populations learn yoga and meditation for self-awareness and healing. Thus far, she has taught yoga to those in drug and alcohol recovery, prisons, psychiatric facilities, trauma centers and inner city schools. Merging with nature is an important part of her practice, and she spends the other half of her time helping run a progressive and mindful school in the majesty of the rural Himalayas (www.apvschool.org), and brings people there to experience the Himalayan culture thru yoga, meditation and service retreats (www.simplyhimalaya.com).
Khushi will teach the Subtle Body Anatomy, Sanskrit, Mantra and Chanting portions of the teacher training.

Avery Westlund MA, ERYT200, RYT500
Avery  is a wanderer, crazy animal lady, and lover of food and laughter. An MA, ERYT200 and RYT500, she has lived, traveled, and taught throughout Europe, Asia, and Central and North America. She leads retreats, workshops, and classes for professional athletes, anxiety and depression sufferers, veterans, and studio and corporate clients in Connecticut and abroad.
